These are the Spectrifelinus, a race of two dimensional cat shadows that blend into the night. They act as their prey's shadows, then slip through the skin of the poor animal and stop their heart. It's painful, and can take several minutes for the animal to finally die and leavetheir body to be eaten by the Spectrifelinus.
