Theron originally found Hoodwink as a partial pile of scattered, decaying robot parts; however, he reconstructed him, and now Hood can be found at his side at almost all times.
He retains his memories from before he originally fell apart millennia ago, and as such has the wisdom and mental maturity of a much older chap.
Acting as a sort of supervising parental guardian for the bat child, Theron in turn simply keeps Hood's body in good condition.
