that is the size of Asia and Antartica combined] and the beasts actually eat and kill other people, making them a problem. Some beasts are "zombies", because Achillea also experiments on dead bodies. She literally digs up graves. She also does really morbid things to dead bodies like sewing two people together, adding extra limbs from other bodies, adding extra heads, etc just for the sake of experimenting to create weapons of mass destruction so that her kind can take over [oops that's a spoiler!! :) ] so the bbs have to stop her
