A big thing you need to understand about the Halcyon universe is that there are many, potentially infinate, planes of existance. Some major ones are the physical plane, the energetic/elemental plane, the mindscape, and dreamscape. Even then, those planes can have pockets and inbetween levels that you can reach with portals or other methods. This is how The Halcyon Team can even go to secret areas in the first place, it's a pocket inbetween the physical and elemental planes. It's like going up or down stairs in a house. Sometimes you go into an entire level of a house, other times it's just a balcony.

So in relation to your question: They may be trapped physically, but they are clearly able to to communicate, so what you need to figure out is on what plane and how they're able to do it. :P

Also it's funny how after reading their personalities, Miike's personality matches 100% with my headcanon, but Riley's is 100% opposite of what I thought he would be; Spazzy and crazy, violent towards whatever he feels like and doesn't think twice before he acts because of how long solitude has broken him.
Also, did you get a chance to read that mini story yet, because I actually had another one w Waclott and Riley that I started like a week ago just because I wanted to practice monologuing. I thought it would be breaking so much canon but now actually not as much, knowing they can communicate.

And I actually did mention he gets frustrated easily and has to cool down a lot. He's also really OCD and has to do things in order and such or he'll get spazzy and panicky. So how you think of him is actually accurate when he's frustrated or irritated.

He's not a calm, cool sort of guy. He's a easily flustered kid who just wants to get out and feels obligated to get the others out because he feels responsible for the whole mess.

AS A MATTER OF FACT, his behavior has degrated A LOT since he was first trapped. He used to be a lot more kind and didn't want to hurt anyone. So he's changed even since then.

I mean, do you REALLY think Walcott would care for him so much if he was always like that? All of the trapped Naughts are basically degraded versions of their original selves. Walcott's the only one who's held out rather well, and even SHE'S slowly edging on insanity.

They're all so bad off they just want to be apart from each other. They want to be free again and live their lives without their only company being a group of angry, suffering people. They're all toxic for each other. They don't like each other. Sure, some get along, but they all consider themselves partners working to one goal. They aren't a team, they're a rag-tag group of prisoners trying to escape.

Plus, they're scared of each other. Who wouldn't be??? They all know they're falling apart. They all know each of them in there has the potential to snap. They all have powers that can make them dangerous.

So when it seems like they could FINALLY have a chance to escape, but The Halcyon Team keeps screwing it up, they're LIVID.

But if they're set free, then EVERY Core on the planet is in danger. And it's all because Riley want to get even. So he's digging the grave deeper and deeper and eventually he's going to hit rock bottom.

I had always assumed that the Mark and Earl events were completely separate from any of the other events. Although... I had always thought it suspicious how Riley seemed to be so willing to work with some cores, seeing how they should hate each other. But I guess he's willing to do anything at this point.

Well, I remember that the mask was created by Smokey at the beginning of the third era, and for what I assumed was for the sole purpose of locking those naughts away.
I also recall there being something about the mask he made being "based off something" from the past, which I suspected could be Riley himself, since he has such a similar grin...
But I also remember there being a thing about the mask even being sentient. so I HAVE NO IDEA
But then after that event with Mark and Earl's 'disappearance'
The mask is just... Wiped off the radar. Gone.
SAME WITH MIIKE. After the last launch he just kinda disappears. He's even labeled "missing" in his bio.
