- Chapter 7 -

Everyone was up early and ready to begin their long treck to Manehatten when Sinatra noticed something. " Where's EverTide..? " He asked, rubbing his eyes tiredly. Several of the others looked around, confused, realizing he was missing.
TeslaGlow trotted up to Sinatra, levitating her saddlebags onto her back. " Maybe he went for a walk? "
" We'll be doing plenty of that. " GrayShade cute in, and looked over at DarkSage and Alexla who trotted back to their small campsite.
" EverTide left. " Alexla told them. " He took his saddlebags and left a note saying he had other ponies to look after... He wishes us luck and safe travels. " DarkSage added.
GrayShade nodded and stood by DarkSage. " Then I hope he travels safe as well... Everypony is ready Alexla. BlueBird. I want you up here with us. " He said, and began to trot off slowly with BlueBird and DarkSage.
" Let's move everypony. Manehatten might be our only safe haven from this mess. " She announced and led the way.

Two hours of what seemed like dead silence had passed. Only the sound of the dirt was heard before Wraithella finally spoke up. " So, are we just not going to talk to each other or what? " She asked, bouncing along to catch up with the others.
" Well, you got distracted by a dead squirel ten minutes ago, so I'd say you broke the awkward silence already. " BlueBird said, a slightly disgusted look on his face.
TeslaGlow shook her head and looked over at her. " I worry about you sometimes. " She said, looking her up and down.
" You worry me too. " Wraithella added casually and TeslaGlow shot her a look. " How? " She asked.
" You didn't let me read what you were writing! You always do! You were writing in your journal last night about GrayShade and DarkSage and how cute they are together and then they- "
" Oh look, another dead squirel! " TeslaGlow shouted, pointing a hoof in a random direction and Wraithella quickly looked around.

TeslaGlow looked back at the group to see GrayShade and DarkSage staring at her, both of them blushing slightly. " What were you writing about exactly, darling..? " GrayShade asked and VelvetMystery cut in, talking to Alexla.
" What do you think happened here? "
Alexla looked over at her and thought for a moment. " Well-... I remember EverTide explaining what you thought happened and that seemed as good an answer as any. I'm not entirely sure... My question is why is almost all the plant life dead... Everything feels so-... Drained. " She said, and DarkSage cast her and interested glance. " You get that feeling too..? "
" Yes-... and I don't like it... " She mumbled, sounding worried.

Wraithella rejoined them and trotted along. " We should have checked the Everfree Forest. "
Alexla looked at her and shook her head. " Wraithella, the Everfree is already dangerous. Do you honestly think it's a good idea to go there now? You were even attacked by a Timber Wolf, and they never leave the Everfree. I would preffer to keep everypony alive. "
Wraithella pouted slightly. " Oh, fine... But I call dibs on the next Timber Wolf we see. DarkSage stole the fun part. " She said, laughing.
" Hopefully we run into another one... The one we saw may have been big but-... It was still young. We got lucky it wasn't a fully grown one. " TeslaGlow remembered, thinking back to when they faught it off.

" What are you hoping we find when we get to Manehatten..? " Sinatra asked Alexla.

" Anything. Royal gaurds. Other ponies. Some sort of safe haven. " She answered him, and DarkSage cut in. " And what do we do if the city lies in ruin? "
Alexla shot him a look and he just stared at her. " We need a backup plan Alexla. We can't just bet on Manehatten being fine and dandy like nothing ever happened. "
" Okay, fair enough. Manehatten is a massive city though. There's bound to be safe zones or something in case something did go wrong there. " Alexla told him. " I hope you're right... " DarkSage muttered under his breath.
BlueBird was the next to speak, to everyone's surprise. " Well whatever's going on, it'll be better than what happened to Ponyville. " He said, and GrayShade nodded. " That's true. I don't see how things could get much worse. "
Wraithella and TeslaGlow exchanged slightly nervous looks. " Why do I feel like we're all doomed all of the sudden..? " TeslaGlow gulped and Wraithella shrugged.

" Lighten up Tesla! " She said, tapping a hoof to her horn, and Tesla gave her an unamused look. " We're going to Manehatten! At least there'll be places to rest. "
At that, TeslaGlow smiled. " You're right. Finally, we might all get a little bit of good sleep. " She said and caught up to DarkSage. " Once we're in Manehatten, we should find somewhere to make a temporary home to rest. A little shelter. " She said, and DarkSage nodded. " That would be wise. Ale- "
" I can do it! " She cut him off, sounding eager to help. " You said we'll be walking for a few weeks possibly. I can take notes and make a list of things we need to do for when we get there. " She said and Alexla and DarkSage both looked at her, surprised. " Well then. Thank you Tesla. That would be a great help. " Alexla said with a slight smile.

The group continued their treck to the city, talking and planning what to do and thought about finally returning to safety.
However, their trials were only just beggining...
