I KNOW THIS ONE BECAUSE I'M FROM LOUISIANA OKAY HERE WE GO:
An alligator has a much more rounded, A-shaped snout, where as crocodiles have narrow, V-shaped snouts. Alligators live in areas like Louisiana, but Crocodiles live more east, like in Florida and such.
If I recall correctly, their teeth also differ. One of them hangs outside the snout and the others have their teeth hidden when they close their mouths, but I forget which is which. (If I were to take a guess, I'd say Alligators have their teeth hang out and Crocodiles don't.)

Gators have only their top teeth sticking out while crocs have both sets of teeth sticking out.
