- Chapter 3 -

Screams and shrieks echoed down the halls of the building as a goulish pony dressed in what looked like a nurse's uniform stumbled its way after two ponies franticly galloping through the hall and down the stairs.

A young mare and stallion who both apeared to be the same age were bloodied and panted, stopping to catch their breath every chance they got.
The stallion struggled to keep going and the mare yanked his leg and gave him a terrified look, talking quickly. " I'm not letting you die here Sinatra! Come on! " She groaned and the stallion let out a surprised squeak as they both flew down the stairs.
The two stopped and looked around with paniced looks on their faces. " Entrance... Entrance... C-Celestia help us... " The mare mumbled to herself.
Sinatra shook, wanting to curl into a ball and hide. " V-Velvet... " He stuttered, hearing hooves and screaching coming from the stairs they had just come down.
Velvet pointed a hoof down a hall and shoved Sinatra along.

" That way! I remember! H-hurry! " She called, galloping ahead.

The two ponies galloped out the front doors and slammed the large, metal double doors behind them and took several steps back, still hearing the monster inside.
Velvet looked over at Sinatra and let out a sigh of relief. " I think we're s-... "
" Velvet! " Sinatra cried, stumbling backas the goulish pony crashed through the doors and took Sinatra down. He held it back as best he could and winced as it swung its hooves at him and gnashed its razor like teeth at him. He let out a loud cry of pain as he felt fresh blood run down his leg and Velvet tried to help but was swatted aside and thrown to the ground.

Sinatra shrieked again and gave up on trying to fight back. It hurt too much and he couldn't hold back the mutated pony any longer. His eyes were wide as he stared at it in horror as it prepared to lunge at his face.
He flinched, closing his eyes as it lunged at him.

There was the sound of something being thrown to the ground and the strange sound of a unicorns magic, followed by a strange pop, gut wrenching crunch and splatter of blood over Sinatra. He opened his eyes and was quickly pulled away by Velvet who was shaking in fear.
" D-don't h-hurt us... Please... " She mumbled, staring at a unicorn who trotted up to them.

He had an almost guilty look on his face and forced an awkward smile, holding out a hoof to her. " I'm nit here to hurt anypony... I saw that thing attacking you and I wanted to help... I've been attacked by thosenthings too. I know the difference between them and a normal pony. " He said, trying to reassure her.

Velvet helped Sinatra up before getting to her hooves and gave the unicorn a nervous look. " W-who are you..? W-what's going on..? " She asked.
The stranger smiled and figured he was able to calm her at least a little bit. " I'm EverTide. And as far as what's going on-... I'm just as lost as you are I'm afraid. I woke up being dragged to wherever we are now by one of those things and I had to kill it... I don't even remember falling asleep. " He answered honestly.

" M-me niether... " Velvet mumbled.
" If you don't mind me asking, who are you? " EverTide asked, trying his best not to startle her as she seemed jumpy enough.

" I'm VelvetMystery. This is my friend Sinatra. ... Sinatra! " She whiped around and galloped to him, realizing he was hurt and currently collapsed on the ground.
" We need to get him to safety. Do you know where we are? Where's the nearest town? " EverTide asked, putting Sinatra over his back. He was bleeding badly and could barely keep his eyes open.
" T-the Ponyville Mental Hospital. Ponyville is eight minutes that way. " VelvetMystery pointed towards a path covered by dead trees and splattered in old blood. " Promising... Let's g-... Ponyville Mental Hospital..? You two are-... patients..? " He asked caustiously.
VelvetMystery nodded and EverTide looked back at Sinatra.

Velvet stared at the ground with a sad look on her face. " Just leave u-... "
" I'll protect you. " EverTide said, and Velvet gave him a surprised look. " You will? "
" Yes. ... Something is going on, and you two don't deserve to be tossed away just because of-... y'know. " He said, not wanting to sound like he was trying to degrade them.
" Thank you EverTide... " Velvet said and followed him down the path to Ponyville.
