(Con)...All Nightmares have an aura around them that causes an eerie feeling to others, But very powerfull Nightmares can use the dark energy that they collected to create the Dark Fog also known as Touch of despair.
Depending on the Nightmare and the individual that comes in contact with the Fog the symptoms can be severe in long exposure.

Dark Fog symptoms:
loss of hope or a sense of despair.
Sickness
Hallucinations (mainly greatest fears)
Drainage of strength or Magic.

A Ancient Nightmare can hide its dark aura.

Ninghtmares can use drak magic, and some can shadow jump (ability to move between shadow)

Nightmares can still shape-change, But a new Nightmare disguise will look sick or thin, but a power or Ancinet Nightmare disguie will appear normal or even beautiful.

Nightmares can still Realm jump but without there companion Fairfin to pinpoint location their ability is limited.

The Fairfin that accompanied them as a Dreamer is usually one of there first victims. The few that escape end up becoming sick and Tainted. If they are found and returned to the land of dreams the sickness can be treated, but they never fully recover. If the Nightmare does not devour their Fairfin and if it survives the sickness it will become a Forgotten.

Villages experiencing Restless sleep and nightmares (where they get their names from), and vanishing residents, and in some cases sickness or plague are most likely to have a Nightmare in there mist.

Nightmares are normally solitary Hunters, but some report say they have been grouping up...

Nightmares weak spots are there pearls that are all over their body (especially the one on their forehead)
They are 3 ranking of Nightmares

1: New or Omega:
they are the newest Dreamers to become Nightmare
2: average or beta: the niddle
3: Ancient or Alpha: they are the oldest or powerfulest and most deadliest kind.

@shadow Ok i see so i kinda touched on the hallucinations so maybe Bones saw a hallucination (his father's brother) and freaked out! Cause his father is his greatest fear and he saw his uncle and linked it to his father and the statues came to life because the nightmare was feeding off his and boo's greatest fear! BOOM!
