Listen up: An artist can draw original artwork or fanart if they want. IT IS COMPLETELY THEIR CHOICE.
They love drawing their characters? Cool!
They love drawing fanart for a fandom? Cool!
They love doing a mix of both? Cool!
Seeing millions of pictures of someone's original character can be just as irritating and unoriginal as some fandom character.
Also, ARTISTS WHO MAINLY DRAW FANART ARE STILL REAL ARTISTS. They made the fanart, it's THEIR art, it's a REAL art piece.

Ha ha, oops, I've actually done the whole "shipping your character with a fandom character" thing before. I don't anymore, but I can't deny the truth of what I've done to poor Bill Cipher. x'D
I see how you can find it irritating, a lot of people do. But as long as the shipping fanart isn't too freaky I usually just accept that it makes that person happy and it's not gonna hurt anyone, so I just go along with it. I figure it'd be the same as someone constantly shipping their characters together.
As for changing things... I really love AUs. xD
I guess that's another thing you either like or hate. Again, if it's not freaky, I'm usually on board. It makes people happy, and sometimes they create interesting spins on the characters or story!
Still, you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just sharing how I feel about it. :)

@Xanthe
If you won't ask, I won't explain, ha ha. xD
If you skip over ships, that's fine! You don't like it, and nobody should try to force you to. There are ships I know I don't like at all, but if it pops up, I just move on. :P
Some ship art is fantastic, some of it is the complete opposite. Honestly, all art is like that. It's either great or not. You either like it or not. No harm, no foul. As long as someone doesn't go nuts and irrationally hate on someone for liking/shipping/drawing something, then it'll all good.
And yeah, some AUs are good, some are bad. People have the right to make them either way, and we'll get gold or dirt from it. xD
Again, it's all a matter of personal opinion and whether you like or dislike it.
I'm very glad I can have a civil discussion with you about this topic. They don't always go this smooth. :)

this is a very good concept, as long as they tag their nsfw (and other topics that might upset more sensitive people)

THANK YOU OH MY GOD
let people ship who they want. Who cares if they ship ocs with fandoms. As long as It doesn't hurt anyone, its fine, let them have their fun
Well, as long as it stays within moral boundaries... (Lookin at you incest shippers. Dont)

Yes, I agree. No one should diss on others because they drew something they didn't like. It's their art, their decision. I:U
RE: No problem! I was feeling bad for not commenting on your paintings that much, since your art is really awesome. :) Keep up the good work!

@Xanthe
Yeah, I feel like people freak out a lot when others don't like their ships.
What they fail to understand is as long as someone isn't hating on the person or the ship in a rude way, it's okay for the person to dislike it. And either way, that person has a right to like that ship, so nothing really changes. (Excluding certain things like ince.st and such.)
There's a difference between "I don't like this ship, but it's okay if you do. Your artwork is still super cool!" and "This ship is terrible, you're terrible, and I hate everyone that likes this ship. Your art sucks."
Like mentioned before, the artist has a right to like/draw a ship, but certain ones should not be a thing (once again, like ince.st). Once a certain line is crossed, the person still has the RIGHT to ship it, but it reaaaaallly SHOULDN'T be shipped. Know what I'm saying?

@Xanthe
Exactly! Everyone says [fandom] is terrible and all the fans are awful and cringey, but literally EVERY fanbase has awful fans and cringy stuff. It's nothing new, people just blow it out of proportion. Honestly, people who call out a specific fanbase for being annoying fail to realize that complaining over somethimg they could ignore is just as annoying. Again, hating is not the same as expressing an opinion. Don't like it? Cool. But don't call out fans saying they're stupid or cringey when it's not the entire fanbase, AND every fandom's like that.
And yeah. Unless if it's bad in a moral way, it's best not to complain or hate on the person for just liking something. It's unnessacary.
It's like this: If you hate Undertale, don't express that on an Undertale pic. If you hate FNAF, don't express that on a FNAF picture. There's no real reason to because all it does is cause conflict and makes you look like you're wanting to upset people.

Yeah, hopefully one day everyone will get over themselves. :P
Until then, we like what we like!

I completely agree with you, artists can make a living off of drawing fanart and original content s often left in the dust but that shouldn't discourage people to draw it or not. I only draw fanart of my friends (coughs you know for who lol) and original stuff but I'm having a swell ol time, it's better for an artist to be drawing what they love because the results will pay off.

Bonus points when they have contributed to the fandom at one time or another. It's alright to think it's no longer cool to be a part of it [personally], but I saw someone pull off the "everyone should stop" rant. :T
