Veronica was born with undersized wings, so she was never able to fly. However, she was also born with a rare telepathic ability that only a few of her species possesses. As she grew up, she was frequently teased and mocked by other young dragons because of her deformity. After a while, she discovered that she could use her telepathy as a form of mind control and turn her aggressors away from her. With her newfound power, Veronica became confident and arrogant, believing that no-one would ever be able to hurt her again. (wait...)

Years later, as a young adult, she encountered a male dragon named Valdus who she was immediately attracted to, and she attempted to court him. But Valdus wasn't interested in a relationship, despite Veronica's efforts to win him over. Out of sheer frustration she used her mind control ability on him, forcing him to love her and become her mate. For a few weeks, they lived together in her cave lair and everyone who saw them assumed that the two dragons were happy.

However, it didn't take long before Veronica was struck with guilt over what she'd done. She knew it was horribly wrong. So she released Valdus from her control, told him what had happened, and apologised. But Valdus, a short-tempered dragon, was in no mood to forgive her. Frightened and angry, he viciously attacked Veronica before fleeing her lair, never to see her again. (wait...)

Nowadays, Veronica tries hard to atone for her past mistakes. She spends most of her time caring for orphaned young dragons in her lair, releasing them when they are old enough to look after themselves. She has become known as a strict but kind mother figure, and will do anything to keep her young charges safe from danger.

None of the orphaned hatchlings know her past. Veronica stopped using her mind control a long time ago, but still uses her telepathy to communicate with other dragons over long distances. She once showed extreme bravery when she defended her charges from a violent dragon who trespassed in her cave.

Personality traits: Kind, caring, intelligent, wise at times, easily frightened but is courageous enough to push past her fear, quiet sense of humour, honest, blunt, doesn't like talking about herself too much, is easily flustered if someone tries to flirt with her.

Deep down, she wants to find love again. However, after the rumours got out that she mentally enslaved Valdus, most male dragons are afraid to approach her for fear she'll do the same to them.

Wow, that is an awesome character an story!! I love how unique her backstory was - she wasn't the "good guy" like in every character's story - she actually had her flaws and regrets as well as correction of her ways. Great job! :D
