Her parents didn't want to be humiliated by having a child incapable of using magic. So they brought the egg up into the caves and tunnels that infested the mountains and abandoned their egg in a cavern. Her parents forced the tunnels to cave in, leaving all evidence of ever having an egg hidden.

The egg however survived, and against all odds, hatched. Noxaura was born in darkness without the comfort of a family.
She lived in the dark for ten long years, alone. In those years however she had come across a cavern that has once been guarded by anicient wards, now weakened by time. In this cavern the hatchling re-discovered five tomes. These books were the last surviving documents of dark magic, written by the first king of Aquilam himself.

From these books the hatchling gained power, she could wield this dark knowledge. And when everyone said she would never learn magic, she discovered her untapped potential from the darkness.

The hatchling dedicated her time to learning from the books, she read each one cover to cover. From the knowledge she gained she was able to free herself from her stone prison. She made her way, malnourished and weak to an outpost. The dragons there took her in and raised her back to full health. The residents named her Noxaura, after the dark presence that seemed to surround the young dragon. As she grew up at the outpost she continued to learn more secrets from the books, they never left her side.

During Noxaura's entrapment underground, her parents had returned to the capital to live their lives. But, their crimes were uncovered and the king banished them to the moutains as punishment for killing an unborn hatchling.
It was when Noxaura was twenty five years of age when she first saw her parents. They came to the outpost for food and medicine, they didn't recognize her, but she knew. She knew it was them that had left her to die.

Days later Noxaura confronted them where they lived, all she wanted to know was why they did it. But her parents lashed out at her, blaming her for ruining their lives. Noxaura tried to defend herself but her powers grew out of control. Her dark magic killed her parents and everything in the surrounding area, the burst of energy had damaged Nox's memories as well.
She didn't remember what happened or who the dead dragons were, but she knew it was her fault. Noxaura became terrified of her power, she took the five tomes and fled the outpost, going into the wilderness to fend for herself.
Eventually she was found by a patrol near the border and escorted her to the capital. She had many meetings with the king's advisers before they finally agreed to let Nox live in Solaris. None of them detected Noxaura's dark powers.

Years past and Nox tried to build a new life for herself. She took up learning nature magic to mask her true abilities.

It was around this time that Queen Avatil disappeared. Noxaura saw how distraught the young prince was, loosing his mother. She decided to comfort him when no one else would.
She became a shoulder for the prince to lean on, eventually he returned the favor. Prince Erwen saw Nox's interest in medicine, after some convincing he was able to get her a mentorship under the most experienced healers.
The two kept their friendship a closely guarded secret, they prefered it this. And as Erwen's hatred for the Chrysos tribe grew, Noxaura was always there to calm the prince after a fight or arguement.

In her time living in Solaris, however, Nox lost the first of the five books. She searched for it furiously and still looks for it to this day.

Hey, I really like this story! It's very well thought out! It's always very interesting to read the story behind characters! ^^ And why is it that it seems like all the parents in every backstory are either dead, secretly evil, or just did something wrong to their children? XP
