Fullmetal Alchemist

A brilliant Alchemist who, along with his brother, Alphonse, broke the laws of alchemy to bring their mother back to life. The transmutation failed and cost Edward his left leg and Alphonse his entire body. Edward then sacrificed his right arm to tie his brother's soul to a suit of armor. The two set forth on a quest to find the Philosopher's Stone and restore their bodies.

There is so much about Edward Elric that makes him a great character that I don't even know where to start. His development as the hero of the story, or his comical outbursts from being called short, I feel like anything I could say about his character has probably been said before by fans of the series. I guess the reason why I think of Edward as one of my all time favorites is because of how invested I was in the story of Fullmetal Alchemist. I got into the series through the manga and I've kept up with it until it's completion. I love the original anime for going in a unique direction with the story, and I enjoy Brotherhood for bringing scenes from the manga to life. Whatever version I'm viewing, I always enjoy seeing Edward's adventures unfold.
