Alright, confession time. I'm jealous of Witzke's follower count. So much so, that I made one of my initial goals to someday match his count. But lately, I've realized something.
Looking back at the times I've had on here, I've found that the most enjoyable experiences I've had aren't looking at my count to see that I have another follow. The most fun I've had here is when I meet new people and make new friends, the highlight of which is F.E.B.I! Thanks to all these cool people I've met on here, I've felt appreciated (much more so than on Hatena), learned some neat tips to enhance my art, and got socially involved in several teams! I've had a blast on here because of you guys, so again, thanks for taking a gander at my gallery and being great buddies! I truly appreciate all of you and your contributions that you've made to make my time here totally awesome!

That's a great way to see it, and it is honestly the true vision. :) Though I also have a high follow count, the best reqard, the things I look forward to, my best experiences, came from hanging out, making new friends, and making art. It's what it's about. I may have half a thousand followers, but my friends are what truly matter. I even know most of those followers are inactive and dont "like" or see my stuff anyway. But my friends, Ace, Inky, Witz, Sora, Amby, Stara, Nexus, Alex, Tiffy, Reub, Paladin, Dusk, Andy, Cherushi, Kenz, Kik, and you, and all of my other friends, they made my time better. I'm glad you see the same, and I'm also glad FEBI has greatly helped you see that, and that I've had a part in it, that's another reward under my belt :)
Also, thank you for your help and contribution to FEBI, without you, it wouldn't be the same.
Also, good job on the painting. It actually is pretty good. The overall design is well thought out and balanced, the personas of you and Witz-

-look really good, they're clean, and have a characterized charm to them. The idea and message is shown well, too.
The only thing I could critique is the background. The idea is good, it just needs better refinement, is all. If it was cosmetically more detailed, it would've been great! But hey, I'm not really good at BGs either xD
Anyway, I hope you still do get more followers, but I'm glad you see the value in what Colors should be :)

That's really cool man! I know we don't talk much, but I'm glad to have met you as well. And that's a very good way to look at it. I was the same with my bro @Gills' followers, and my bro @Blackbean's artwork, and was jelous, but I then realized, it's not about how detailed my art is, or how high my follower count gets, but just having fun and being who I really am. I've had a lot more fun on here sense then.

Followers are fun to get, but they won't matter too much if there's a lack of connectivity between the painter and the viewer. Getting along with others here on Colors is definitley better than striving for a popular spot in the community.
There's a long list to the truth you've stated, but I think it can go unsaid why it's great to have a group or set off friends you can relate to or rely on.
Still, it's okay to celebrate that one new follower everyone gains, in moderation anyway.

Re2: Every once in a while, i get the urges to show off the concepts ahead of their debuts. Currently, I got away with a few buried in 2 years of work, but...
And while I do have a group to work with, they have less access to it, surprisingly. It's pretty much the same on their end.
