In answer to your question, yes it is a very real place. Katmai, up in Alaska.
I love this just love this so much. I already commented on fb, but will place it here as well.
This is simply breathtaking. The old tower, the clouds, the light on the water on the far right. Stunning. Peaceful, and we need more of this. I think this may be your best piece to date. Good luck.:)

Che peccato! Io sono andata a Piazza dei miracoli, piazza Garibaldi, piazza XX Settembre e una piccola chiesetta. Poi ho fatto il giro in varie vie e mi è piaciuta molto ^u^ Io ho sostato in un posto vicino a La Spezia, Bocca di Magra.

This is in my opinion one of the best paintings you've done, at least among the top 5. For what it is, it's pretty much as good as it gets, it's simple and detailed, seems like a very specific place in the middle of nowhere, tranquil, calm and I love that kind of place. The sense of space is great, the vastness of the sea and of the sky and the also the smallness and fragility of everything represented here come to mind.
