It seems the other conciousness has awoken and taken its fair share of the soul.
#Undergone Secret Boss. Chara borrows half your soul & HP, as well as the Knife. She also has some Monster Candy she can use.
Even tho the Health Bar says your full HP, when Chara is damaged, it depletes on your HP bar. You both have a half of the HP. Healing over your own half of the HP will also heal Chara with the remainder, and vice versa.(...)

You must try to keep track of how much of the remaining HP is yours and which is Chara's. The game will keep track, but not show who's is who's.
Winning the battle let's you continue the game, but losing has unknown consequences.
