Re: Making a ref with the required information is pretty much all there is to it (remmber that for higher ranks you need permission from the tribe leaders). However since the first rp has already passed it's up to you to catch up and be there for the next one. No worries though, not much happened.

Re: The character needs to be apart of one of the two tribes but they could live independently and mainly rely on themselves. They'd just interact with their tribemates less frequently than characters that are more attached to the clan. But they'd still follow orders from their monarchy.
As for the society they're in, I'd say it's a mix between a city state and a kingdom. I don't know for sure...
