Aspie World by SpiritChaser2012

In November of two yrs. ago at the age of forty, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning FORM of Autism. People like me are shunned by society, get hurt more easily than the NT's (neurotypicals), and don't have bonded, close friendships. We are honest, at times TOO honest, and we "see" things different. If it seems we're not "listening", we aren't because we can't understand what you say. We deserve love and friends just like the "norms"!!

So please open your hearts and minds to MY world. We may be "quir.ky", but we have a lot to offer, including loyalty, and we can be helpful where other NT's can't!!

The world is full of idiots. Ignore them if you can. I have a teenage son who is GT(gifted/talented), he is also different and does not thing like most people.(I'm 54), widow, and a Disabled Veteran. I am raising him alone. If you would like a friend, we could swapnote. I understand a lot more than most people.

I love the art, and gallary. I was a slow learner in grade school and know how being different can be. We have to encourage one another because we are here for a reason. Thanks for your courage.

Don't let anyone get you down in the dumps. I've been called 'weird', 'stupid', and one person even said I couldn't learn! Well, all of them were way wrong. Just because your an individual and you're different doesn't make you weird. Just because you understand and view things different than other people doesn't make you stupid. Just because you learn in a way different than that of the Public Schools system doesn't mean you'll never learn. Never try to be ordinary. I personally would rather be extraordinary than the dull old ordinary.
I myself have a documented 'learning disability' but I don't let it depress me because I stick with this saying I thought up myself: "A disability can be an ability. It all depends on which angle you see yourself from." And that's what really matters the most--What you think of yourself, not what others think of you.
Btw, I clicked the "Like It." button for this drawing. I hope my wall of text is empowering and helpful. :)

You're an Amazing Woman! Thank you for sharing your story. I'm 40 and have Neurofibromatosis (NF) a neurological disease, which has simular issues as Autisim. In fact there is a higher percent of ppl /w NF who are also Autistic. It's hard being different, or not "Normal", BUT, we're special, and deserve respect just like anyone else. Thanks for your art and for your words, I know you've done more good than you'll ever realize. Not everyone who is moved by your work will tell you, or anyone for that matter. Keep up the Great work! Thanks! :)
