You ever see Sonic Dissected? It's a series on Youtube that tries to look into the thematic elements of Sonic (like characters and level design) and determine why certain aspects are enjoyed, why some are hated, and why the series is going into a decline and what things it could do to improve (even if Sega probably wouldn't listen). It's an interesting watch, though I'll warn you, it's animation is intentionally poor. ^-^"
