Apparently, Mobians would come from every corner of the island just to bury their loved ones.
There were remnants of graves, dead bodies, and bones where Dr. Robotnik filled the land up with lava, and tore down most of the tombstones. It was a depressing place to see.

They made it out in one piece thankfully, though Sonic had to help her through the last cavern. She wished Marble Graveyard could have been as peaceful of a walk as going through Green Hill Village was.

Finally, they were in the Spring Yard Mines, and, oddly enough, there were no badniks in sight. There were many in Marble Graveyard, a few here and there in Green Hill Village, but absolutely no sign of them in the Spring Yard Mines.

Through their trek, Cinos was coughing heavily. There was tons of coal dust in the air. That was only for the first mile they walked. The second and third mile had bits of gold dust, and liquid gold scattered throughout. Of course there were some rings around,

but seeing as there were so few, it seemed as if they were being tested on, perhaps to see what powers their life-giving abilities. They were weird things, and you almost never saw them in the city, though they were only visible to Mobians. They could heal small wounds, make you less hungry or thirsty, which made great for a long trek.

At last they reached the end of the mines, and there it was, a beautiful, gloowing, lustrous lavender purple emerald.

The trio could not believe their eyes, it's beauty in the past was unimaginable to those who had never seen it, but now gazing upon it was like looking at an adonis.
Cinos, Sliat, and Nic walked up to the gem, and all at once they reached out to touch it. Just the touch filled them with wonder and an immense feeling of power. Then, it was gone. The emerald, it was gone, snatched right from under their noses.

It took a while for them to get out of their trance, but they did eventually, and when that was, there was absolutely no trace

of the emerald whatsoever. They decided to get out of the mines and above ground. There they found two Mobians floating, and the shining purple emerald in their hands.
Well, really, one was floating and the other was in his lap.

"Ladies and gentleman," the wolf sitting in the husky's lap began as he held out his arm dramatically. "boy and girls. You all shall witness now, the stealing of all your precious jewels!" he smiled toothily. "Now hand them over." his voice suddenly became serious and deep as he held out his claws.

"We don't have anymore, mutt!" Sliat yelled, cupping her hands over her mouth.
"What she said!" Nic followed.

"I don't know." Cinos shrugged.

The husky let go of the wolf and revealed a disfigured-looking hand that was dripping black goop. He waved the hand and suddenly icy spears appeared above the trio.
"Hand them over or we'll be forced to take them by any means necessary." he spoke without a mouth.

Sliat looked over to Nic guiltily.

He gave her a questioning look. She sighed. Nic grew angry.

"What the he.ll, Sliat? You said-" he started, but stopped once she pulled out a green emerald and held it aloft, walking towards the two in the sky. Sliat held back tears. "That was our-" Nic started back.

"I'm sorry, okay? But I don't want you, or Cinos, dead, no matter how much I act like I hate you!" she screamed at Nic with tears starting to stream down her face, wetting the mascara on her muzzle. The hedgewolf stuttered an attempt at an apology for getting mad and finally got out, "okay".

He began to walk over to where she was. The wolf teleported down and took the emerald. Once back, the husky spoke again. "My, my. What a ruse."

"What?" Cinos and Nic asked.

"Aw... it's a fake..." the wolf overdramatically swooned, and then laughed like a hyena as he came back up. "You know what this means, yeah? Do we do it?" he asked in-between titters.

"We do." the husky answered back.

Suddenly the icy spear shot down, turning everything in it's reach to ice. Cinos stood frozen, though not because of any ice, but because she was simply to frightened of what might happen if she interfered. The bridge of land they all stood upon started to quake beneath them. That didn't stop Nic from rushing to save Sliat from turning to ice. Her feet were already beginning to freeze.
He was halfway there when she pulled off her beanie, revealing her rabbit ears which in turn made her eyes glow red, and, aligning them, shot a laser beam or red, pushing him back.

"Sliat!" Nic yelled furiously as the hedgerabbit accepted her fate and fell victim to falling into the abyss with the ice spear.

Cinos was stunned, she couldn't move an inch if she wanted to. Yeah, she had a prejudice against half-breeds, and hated hedgehogs with a passion, but seeing Sliat go down like that, and with such bravery twisted her stomach into knots.

She was already starting to warm up to Nic after he basically saved her life by pulling her onto the blocks from the lava, and now seeing him stare into the pit like he had been shot through the heart ripped her emotions into tiny little pieces.

She stepped with rage over to the hedgewolf who kept mumbling, "It was her.", "I never thought.", and "Did she ever consider.".

She didn't need her superpowers this time, only her anger and hatred for the wolf and husky pair.

"Oh did you see the part where the hedgehog cried? That was my favorite scene." the wolf chattered.
"You have no taste. Clearly the best part was when the bat sat on her a.ss and did sh.it to help the hedgehogs." the husky said as monotonously as before. Even though he had no mouth, she swore she could see him smile at her.

"Why did you do that? You could have just let her go!" Cinos screamed with all her might at the couple.

"Fun." the wolf sighed happily.

"Deserved it." the husky stated.
Now she was really mad.

"You're gonna go down with her." Cinos shrieked her promise.

"Oh but you don't even know our names! I'm Airam and this is Freeze- uh... dearie, are you okay?" Airam worriedly turned to Freeze who was laughing extremely hard. Cinos stepped back anxiously. Freeze's mouth began to appear, sort of. Rips and tears started to appear, some connecting to form a smile, and others not. Finally all the tears spread open to reveal multiple extremely sharp canines, almost like those of an anglerfish.

Nic hadn't noticed as he was still staring at the pit, and Airam was pretty much okay with it, but Cinos almost wanted to throw up as the husky opened his mouth to talk.

"I'm gonna kill you, even if you have a m-mouth now!" Cinos stuttered, not quite able to get over the disturbing fangs.

"Foolish child, you really still believe you can beat us?" Freeze asked, his voice now coming with a hiss.
"Yes." Cinos said to herself looking down.
"Alright." Freeze said.

Suddenly icy spears began shooting at her, and plummeting into the ground which broke off. She flew up and calling a power within her she didn't even know existed, charged up an electrical beam by doing spindashes in the air and let go, enveloping the villainous duo. They went down, and upon hitting the ground, melted into a black ooze and seeped into the earth.

Cinos had no time to question this as she grabbed Nic and flew off to Labyrinth Lake.
