It was a female grey dragon. She looked to be the adventurous type.

"State your name!" Cinos yelled at the girl. The bat shouted a curse as she was frozen in place by blue gemstones. "Who are you?" she asked again.

"I'm Gem the Dragon, I should ask you the same, seeing as you're pointing a weapon at me." the dragon replied.

"Sorcery's Soul of the Mystic Ruins." Cinos answered, telling Gem her aura warrior name.
"That's so campy." Gem sighed, shaking her head and walking out of the bushes.

"Tell me, where is this?" Cinos asked, trying to speak in a superior tone. Gem just laughed.

"Maybe if you asked nicely, I would. Do you always act all high and mighty, kid?" she knelt down beside Cinos and removed the gems encasing her feet. As soon as she was free, Cinos removed her armor and put away her weapon with only her thoughts.
"I'm not a k-kid." Cinos crossed her arms and looked away. "Is this South Island?"

"Yup! the beaches of Green Hill to be exact!

"We're right on the edge of the island. Are you lost?" Gem asked, smoothing her black hair back. Cinos nodded reluctantly. "I'd be happy to guide you anywhere you like. My adventure's over, anyway."
Cinos' eyes widened in shock. "E-even after I talked to you like that?" she asked, dumbfounded.

"Yeah, you're just a kid, aren'tcha?" she smiled brightly. Cinos smiled and dug her toe into the sand shyly.

"Thanks. Um. I'm trying to get to the Spring Yard Mines. Do you know where that is?" Cinos asked. "Er, my real name is Miley Cisneros, by the way. People call me Cinos for short."

"Sure, Cinos." she crossed her arms. "That's a long, long way though. I can't imagine why you'd want to go there. Unless... you're after the Chaos Emeralds?"

"Yeah, me and Sh- SHADOW!" Cinos screamed, suddenly in a panic. "WHERE IS-" she stopped talking suddenly as Gem put a finger to her now closed mouth and held her arm extremely tight.

"Shh. There are a tens of thousands of badniks patrolling the area,

"do you wish to be caught?" she asked stepping back from the bat.

Cinos blinked, confused. "Badnik?" she had never heard of such a name.

"They're robots made by a man named Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Rumor has it he had died long, long ago. However sightings of the Badniks have been springng up all over the world after a big disappearance. I've seen a couple here. The legend of this island, the natives call him 'Sonic', vanquished them decades ago. Apparently interest in this island has greatly intrigued their creator again. I'd say that's that emerald." Gem explained. It was a lot to take in. How could they exist if the maker was long gone?
But it didn't solve her other question, where was Shadow? Was he lost out to sea? Did he drown? Is the boat okay? Was he on the island?
After Gem was done talking, there was a whirring noise coming from behind her. Out of the bushes and trees came metallic ladybugs, chameleons, and bees. Gem became enraged and took a fighting stance.

Cinos joined her, getting out her soul gem and becoming Sorcery's Soul once more.
There were ten, no, twenty, no, thirty Badniks! Cinos used electricty from her staff to make them explode. Gem made the sand crystals and encased them or threw the gems into them. But there were too many if them to fight, or count for that matter! They were vastly overwhelmed.

Then, when all else looked bleak, two hedgehogs sprung out of the forest and began to take on the Badniks as well. With four of them there, they managed to defeat the army of robots.
"Phew, that was good fighting, Sliat!" the salmon-colored hedgehog said, and suddenly Cinos recognized them.

"Oh fu*k me!" Cinos screeched. "These two? Chaos has really got to be sh*tting me."

"Happy to see you too, Cinny." Sliat put a hand on the bat's shoulder.

"Who are they? You seem to be, er, acquainted." Gem said, not really knowing what to think of Cinos' use of language.

"That's Hedge-Rabbit and Hedge-Wolf, Gem." Cinos said sassily.

"It's Sliat, Cin'." Sliat said. "I'm a hedge-rabbit, but that's not who I am."

Cinos spat. "Alright, it's Selim and Nic. There." she groaned and rolled her eyes.
"Thank you." Nic sighed, crossing his arms. "What brings you here?"

"None of your biznass." Cinos seethed.
"Well, we were taking an adventure together to build our bond as a couple." Sliat said purposely to get on Nic's nerves.
"We're not dating!" he yelled. Sliat winked at him which made him groan.

"Oh get a room." Cinos said.

"Are you headed to the Spring Yard Mines?" Gem asked.

"Yeah, we'll be passing through on our way to Starlight Village. We're thinking of setting up a home there." Sliat replied.

"Not true!" Nic said.

"Well, could you please take this kid off my hands?" she asked.

Cinos sputtered in disbelief. "W-what? I'm n-not travelling with- with them. I-"

"You'll be better off going with them. I'll see you around!" she said, walking off.
Cinos sighed. Sliat smirked.
