The World of Athale is a place recovering from an apocolyptic destuction. Much of the history of the world before the apocolypse was destroyed, however it is speculated from the ruins of old that the previous ancestors were very advanced, and prosperous. The Apocolypse took place 90 years before our RP story takes place, that being said, the earth is still fairly torn up. While plant life has had 90 years to take over the ruins of once grand cities of old, there are still many areas that are baren or wastelands. Fresh water is scarse as well as fertile soil for crop growth. The wild plants and forests have adapted to the environment and flourish, same goes for many of the beasts and monsters that roam the wilds. making travel dangerous.
The war between two floureshing Rules (The kingdom of Vale and the Empire of Ethos) broke out in a struggle for power, terretory, and valuble reasourses (like water/fertile landc). The war broke out two years before the RP, and has caused much damage.

The Inhabitants of Athale range from being normal human, to all maner of humanoid beings. This includes Mages, Sorcerers, Antho beasts, Shapeshifters, werewolves, or simply a normal human swords man. About 50 percent of Athales population has some amount of magic in their blood, the other fifty percent are normal humans. Many of the normal humans have become skilled archers, swordsmen, or gunmen in order to survive alongside those with magic blood. There are some rarities amoung the populace however, these include Human mages (normal humans gifted in magic control), many type of shapeshifters, elves, harpys, and dragons (thought to be extinct.)
Although this world is shared between humans and magic folk, many magic folk have been persecuted, hunted for sport, and in general treated as lesser beings, or unclean bloods. Some places being more accepting than others.

Just some brainstorming here, but would some of the characters be fleeing to avoid being recruited for the war? After all, people with magical abilities and unusual capabilities would be powerful assets to the kingdoms' armies...
Also, I'd imagine that everything that goes on a ship destined for the opposite country would have to be inspected for any spies, traitors, and people capable of fighting in the war. So the characters who cannot hide their abilities would have to sneak onto the ship as stowaways...

Gona post my answer here as well so the others can see it
@FadingGlory
Re: in some cases yes, they are avoiding both recruitment, elimination, and general mayhem. And yeaa sort of, the ship is meant for refugees. So the empire dosnt want them to leave anyways. So it's a bit of a situation where random ships will dock, smuggle passengers who are trying to escape, and smugger them across to vale

My, what a magnificent map! :) AAAH! This will be so awesome! (assuming I'll be one person out of a million to be chosen to partake in this RP, of course. Yeah, right! cx )I'm working on my refs, but I've one question, and this may sound mildly silly, but... may my character have an intermediate anthro form? He's a shapeshifter, so he obviously has a predetermined human and animal form (strap-toothed whale). However, in certain weather conditions, such as chilly rain or snow, along with immersion in freshwater, Fiacail's transformation gets kind of... stuck. XD It irritates him.

:o I just read that freshwater is scarce, so pardon that error... xp

Last query, I promise. What are Kelton and the Vale Islands like? (Topography, brief history, et cetera. Just a condensed description, as I'm trying to determine whether either location should be Fiacail's homeland.)

Re: Thank you very much! ^-^ Vale Islands it is! (Strap-toothed whales often live in slightly frigid water, mostly near Antarctica, but given that there isn't a 'South Pole' equivalent, the islands north of Vale should do nicely.)

So from where is the ship the characters are going to be escaping through
