Ok, lemme explain. Y'know how all Eskuriians are male? They may not have se.x organs, but that doesn't mean they don't have romance. It's perfectly normal for 2 Eskuriians to be in love. They have no idea what se.x or women are, so all Eskuriians are #gay. But a homo #Uskan would be banished from their clan or even killed if they came out. They wouldn't even think of it unless someone introduced the idea to them, though. I'll explain more in the comments.

Okay, more explanation. This is pretty much how their relationship would work.
Xirmo loves Galnork romantically. Galnork, being the dumb Uskan he is, thinks Xirmo loves him like a brother or something. Xirmo is 50 percent sure that Galnork loves him back romantically. Not wanting to ruin their friendship, Xirmo doesn't explain how Eskuriian romance works and tries to avoid that topic at all costs. Most Uskans are too ignorant to even care about it anyway. xD
(Uskans have romantic love AND platonic/brotherly love. So if an Uskan says he loves you and you're a guy, he means you're like a brother to him. ^^)

And yes, they're sitting on the veeeeery edge of Eskurii where the sandy desert fades into a snowy wonderland. Nothing much there except for a few Eskuriian sentries on the lookout for Uskan attacks. If you went further into the snow land, you'd be walking into Uskinee.
