Ace travels, upon his own will, with Alphonse. Alphonse has proven to Ace that he's trustworthy, & they have become fast friends. Alphonse though has no Pokemon, & only travels with a still technically wild Ace, he doesn't like confining Pokemon to Pokeballs, & doesn't like the idea of 'owning' a Pokemon.
