Meh... by Jaslet

I got bored so I decided to sketch a feathered dragon and upload it for no reason. And don't tell me I suck at drawing dragons, I already know.

I do love feathered dragons, but one thing confuses me. Most dragons breathe fire, right? And dragon scales are fireproof, but feathers aren't. So how do they not catch fire? Same with furry dragons as well.

Also, what's this "flight rising" thing that I keep seeing? Is it like a game or something?

No, you're amazing at drawing dragons! (this one's so cool >o<)
Hmmm... and maybe the dragon feathers and fur are special and are fireproof like normal dragon scales? Maybe...?

I don't know what you are talking about - this dragon looks absolutely beautiful!! The body looks so sleek and powerful, the wings are gorgeous, and I cannot get over those perfectly drawn feet! x)

That is a very thoughtful theory, I've never really considered that. Feathers that cover a bird are there mainly to keep the body warm, so a fire-breathing dragon would not need feathers, since the flame inside it acts as a furnace. Feathers could however be used as insulation, and maybe for mate attraction.
A feathered dragon can very well be flammable, so they would have to reside in places where fire-breathing dragons would not go, such as a cold enviroment.
Concerning their wing flammability, feathered wings and dragon wings are both equal. After all, the membrane of a dragon's wing is merely made of thin flesh. However, wing feathers will grow back when damaged, unlike the membrane of a typical dragon wing, which cannot reconstruct itself when torn.
I hope this helped! xP

Re: Then I guess a feathered dragon should not be breathing fire XD
