Well it's called Zelda probably since it was probably passed down by Zelda in the end. Also you get to choose Link's name so the title was made to respect your name choice.

Well in Ocarina of Time she isn't captured til the end. She gives you arrows of light too [Which you need to beat Ganon]. She shoots Ganon in Twilight Princess during the final battle and such. Link usually can't beat Ganon or sometimes even get through the entire adventure without her. Plus, we're supposed to be Link because he's the silent hero who we get to name in the games.

The Legend of Link klingt eh viel plausibler... Vor allem weil Zelda nicht unbedingt in jedem Titel der Reihe auftauchte! Mir kommt da eigentlich auch nur Majora´s Mask ein, hmm... So doll kenne ich mich auch nicht damit aus. ._.
