The things on his back/neck are "magic" stones that help Reznix perform and weild his powers. Each one of these species develope these stones in the egg and use them to break through the egg shell as well. The hardness of the stones are used to push out of the shell. (Like chicks have a hard "horn" on the beak)

Re: Thanks! Undertale is this new RPG that came out. You play as a human who has fallen in a pit and has ended up in a land full of monsters wanting your soul. The goal is to make it out of the underground. You should check it out! :D
