Concept - Photonites and Shades by Mr.Doodles
Photonites are beings of light. Their bodies need pure light to survive, and they produce light selectively, even so to the point of light constructs.
Shades are beings that also consume light, but they can even consume color and seem to exude darkness selectively. Similarly they may also make constructs of darkness.
They both appear generally similar when neither are transformed, sparkly and greyish, with only eye color to tell them apart.

They can take on many forms: tall, short, wolfish, cat-like, monsterous, manly and womanly, though they are generally anthromorphic or humanoid.

Yeah, effectively I just said the only real qualities that make them unique is eating light and color and making light and shadows.
