Robotic bodies became a popular way of "avoiding" death during the Great Red Scare of late 29XX. These bodies stored the memories, personalities, skills and values of the "original" body. Though they were intended to act as replicas, they often ended up with minds of their owns, becoming the total opposite of who they were supposed to be. Attempts to completely transfer one's consciousness into these bodies were made, but were highly unsucessful.
"The Great Red Scare" was the period of time wherein the sun was on its way to becoming a red giant during 29XX. Many strange things were done as people tried to prepare for the End of the World.
