Soulless are creatures formed from tortured souls who want revenge on the world
A soulless uses its souls remaining power to form a physical form. Thus the soul is destroyed to form the body, so thats why they are called soulless.
They lose memories of their past life, but if something triggers a memory they go into a more hostile and powerful form, shattered mode. In shattered mode, the power in the body can barely be contained causing the body to crack. (cont. comments) #monsterbook

A soulless, when defeated, breaks into glass shards. The shards then vanish into smoke, and the once living creature is erased from reality, meaning they don't go to another realm (ex. the wastelands where evil souls rest) after they are defeated.
Also soulless can take various forms, it depends on how strong there soul was. The stronger it is, the more powerful body is created.

Ironically, I've got something called "Soulless," in my story too, but they are humans possessed by these creatures called "Wraiths," so XD
Yours sound super cool though.
