So the reason she has those marks was because she was bitten by something but has no memory of it. As well a virus entered her body BUT because shes always able to fight of infections/viruses she became immune still having traces of it. The marks do cause extreme pain as well as painful headaches from when she'd gotten hit in the head causing her amnesia she had long ago. Also the virus does act up a bit since her body is changing so she takes medication for it and can't go long without it.
