"well i haven't been bullied in a long time, i just need some advice from others..
so this year i told my mom i didn't want to do contest art for rodeo and it's like she didn't even hear me she was like 'so when you going to get started' and every time this subject comes up it all ends up the same with her saying that i have to stop 'poo pooing' my art and that i have talent and that i can win money this year since i'm older" (continued in comments)
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

(continued from description) "she is not taking no for an answer and she's taking my decision the wrong way thinking that i don't think i'm good enough to compete this year or something
part of me suspects she's after the money.. my mother is a penny pintcher"

Well I don't think she herself is after the money, otherwise she should enter. Every parent wants to see their kids succeed and perhaps you're confusing her want for your success as a negative thing. Personally I think you should try out in it. I have also entered local art contests and not always won, but the feeling of accomplishment was worth it, even when I didn't want to enter.

I think if you don't want to, you certainly shouldn't have to. You should have a serious talk with your mom to clear things up, to clarify what you feel/want. Look her straight in the eye and tell her in a calm, stern voice, that you don't want to sell your art, and that doesn't mean you don't like your art.
