Gintama is definately one of my favorite animes. I believe no anime could get a perfect 10 because so many people have different opinions. I would give the anime a 9.7. Here is what flaws I have observed. The first twenty to thirty episodes are somewhat hard to get into, while most long running anime take about ten to twenty eepisodes. But once you break that wall, you will hopefully be quite surprised by the result and you wont regret it. Another flaw it has is the comedy. A lot of the jokes center around the Japanese culture, so you should probably watch more mainstream anime like Evangelion and the Big Three(Naruto, One Piece, ext.) Refrences include the Shounen Jump Magasine, some movies, and Japanese actors and singers. But dont worry, because there are plenty of American references like Star Wars and stuff like that. Since Gintama is a comedy, not all people may get into that sort of comedy. But what makes Gintama unique is that it doesnt stop there. When you get

to the later episodes, you will get pulled in by the amazing action, serious, sad scenes. It's so cool how a comedy anime can go from you laughing your butt of to crying your eyes out in seconds. Now the characters are VERY unique. And I'm not exagerating when I say that. Gintoki, the main protaganist, is extremely lovable. He is different from your regular shounen jump heroes. Ever heard Naruto say, "I dont want to train today. Training is a pain." Well your going to hear it from Gin-san.
