Created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik from Black Doom's blood, Shadow is a person who focuses primarily on his tasks. He could care less what others may think, just the task at hand. Despite his pessimistic, or even overall passive look, he does actually care for the people all around him.

Also, did you know that Shadow was only 2 weeks old when he had got sent out of the Ark? That would explain why he has a rather limited moral in Sonic Adventure 2
