The Super Mario Bros 2 manual says that "Birdo is a boy that thinks he is a girl, and would rather be reffered to as Birdetta." Later games don't mention Birdo's gender. Eventually, Nintendo established Birdo's gender as female by making Yoshi and Birdo boyfriend and girlfriend. However, other games depict Birdo as male, such as Captain Rainbow (Japan only) and games like Super Smash Bros Brawl mention the gender confusion, but don't confirm one. So what do you think? Is Birdo male or female?

XD Obviously, male. "He" was originally know as Catherine in his first few games. I made a flip on hatena about this and its hilarious, ppl kept commenting saying it was a girl. -w- So I just let them think that, I hate arguing.
