Long story short, #Kaneki, in the beginning of the #anime, was a normal human being who had this crush on a girl. There was #Ghoul activity close by her house so Kaneki walked her home, turns out, the girl was a Ghoul, abliterated a few of Kaneki's organs, construction beams then fell and killed her, Kaneki was then sent to a hospitel where they had to transplant his origans...

...With the girl...
Need I remind you, the girl was a Ghoul. Anyway Kaneki became a Half-Ghoul and that attracted unwanted attention, he gets kidnapped, tortured, and he finally acepts that he was now a Ghoul, his hair turns white, he ablitterates the guy that tortured him, pins him to the ground, then eats him.
(Right after Kaneki became a Ghoul, some other Ghouls found him and let him live and work at a coffee shop... which is the only drink besides bl00d that Ghouls can have apparently)
Fast Forward a few years...
One of the enemy's gets a tip about a strange coffee shop, and the sceen skips down to the shop Kaneki use to work at, and the door to the shop suddenly opens, so i'm thinking, "Oh no. He's going to kiII Kaneki's friends." Then the waitress drops all the plates she was carring and I thought, "Well good way to look like you're human and not a Ghoul. Now the guy's going to find out and- WHAA???" The screen switched, and freaken, Kaneki... is standing in the fu**ing doorway!

Like... what the HECK dude! You can't do that after being gone for 5-6 years. It'd be like showing up at your family's door after being gone for 6 years. You just can't do that!
