Art belongs to me..

My goldfish Luna died this morning of dropsy...I'm feeling sad and super restless now...

I noticed she had it yesterday...I refreshed 90 percent of her tank (i put her in a big bucket of water in the meantime), I put fish medecin and vitamin in the water and put her back in. She seemed to be doing better for a moment but in the evening she was lying on her side...And now she's dead...

my father burried her because I just couldn't look at her anymore..It just hurt too much to see her like that...

So I decided to draw her a goodbye picture..where she is reunited with her late friends..

Cleo was my first goldfish. I got her in 2012, but she was already an adult when I got her so she was probably 3-4 or maybe even 5 years old when she died. Cause of death is unknown since I was in London when she died, but it was probably poor water condition because my sister was giving too much food. She was my favorite goldfish..she had so much personality..

Figaro was my second goldfish, he is a strange case because he changed colors over the years. He followed Cleo everywhere around, and at first cleo ignored him but afterwards they became friends. He died of dropsy, not too long after Cleo died..

Luna was my third goldfish, my mom chose her in the store. She was a feisty little lady and learned the bad habit of hitting the thermometer with her mouth to get my attention of Cleo.

After figaro died, Luna was alone for a long while. I know goldfish like company, so I decided to buy a couple of friends for her

So me and my mom went to the aquarium store and picked out 2 fish. I picked Dragonsito and she picked Cleito.

Luna first didn't really know what to do with the two, and pushed them around with her mouth for a day. After that she stopped and grew to like them.

Cleito sadly died after a few days. When we bought her, we didn't notice she had a small wound on her cheek. I noticed it the next day and put some medecin in the water, hoping for it to heal. She died a few days later, probably because of her wound.

So dragonsito was alone with this big goldfish Luna and seemed a little shy and scared.

So when I went to a very good petstore a bit farther away from my home with my dad, initianally just to buy plants, and saw her, I decided to buy her.

She was however in a completely empty tank when i bought her, without even gravel, so (tbc)

when I let her into my tank, which is all decorated and has plants, she was very scared at first, hiding a lot.

I was scared to lose her, also because she had a deformity in her gills, but the next day she was happily swimming around, always nearby dragonsito.

Dragonsito was a curious, active little young goldfish, and often played with Blancita.

He was the first of the three to die...In a weekend I hadn't been able to check on my fish tanks because my little niece was here, he had gained this weird red rash/wound on his chin. I put in fish medecin (dont remember if I cleaned it, I think I did), but it got worse and worse and then he died...

Blancita died 3 days later of dropsy, the same day I had noticed she had it..

And now Luna died and I got an empty tank...

And I feel like it's all my fault...

You might think it's stupid to get upset over the death of a fish...

But goldfish actually have a lot of personality and respond to you and have interesting behaviour.

They get much more attached to you than most tropical fish (my tropical fish are actually afraid of me, except my platys (don't know what they're called in english))

So they're just hard not to get attached to..

Aww, I'm so sorry! QoQ I completely understand though, I was very upset when my fish died, despite their small size and short lifespan. I still really want sone goldfish, put them in a big tank and let them grow to their max x3 Of course after hearing your experiences, I realize how difficult it is to keep them alive and healthy xP
However, I highly doubt that any of their deaths were caused by you. Dropsy and other diseases are so common, and can even infect the healthiest fish. Your first 3 goldfish lived long lives - you took very good care of them. And you made the ones with injuries/deformations happy before they died an inescapable death. None of their deaths were your fault - they died when they were ready to die, and they never blamed you :)
Are your goldfish ryukin goldfish? (or whatever they are called where you live)

im so sorry! -hugs- i dont think i've had a goldfish, but i've had some beta tetras i think. [forget what they're called] my first was red and blue, and very pretty, but died when i was at school. my mom sent my colorblind dad to go get one that looked exactly like it, but he got a smaller brown one with even a smaller tail type, so of course i noticed haha. though i wasn't very attached to those fish...

I've had several pets pass away, but don't feel like it's your fault. They all seemed to have happy lives, and they're probably watching over you from fishy heaven : , ) It is very sad though, I hope you feel better *hugs* <(>n<)>

sorry to hear about your loss. i have a plecko i have been keeping for two years and i would be upset if he died. i also have two african ciclids that are rainbow colored that i got several months ago. and a whole bunch of gold fish i just got recently. i only started keeping fish a couple years ago but i totally understand what you mean. you should get some more. i would suggest thoroughly cleaning your tank before you put a new fish in tho.

I've had the same 3 fish in my fish tank for... 4 or 5 years? A Glowlight Tetra and 2 Julii Cory Catfish. But I know that feel when your single fish in a bowl dies, I had Beta fish for 3 years until i got my tank. I know how much it sucks.

Rest in spaghetti, never forgeti.
