Game creation planning:

Google Docs and stuff like that can be used for game plans/ideas/whatever being kept in one place. As for the sharing/gathering of resources, I'm not sure how that will go.

Share it over Google Drive? That won't, however, be possible with the actual project file.

Is the Tumblr SegiQuest?

Character creation means more coding, which is fine if we have someone who can and is willing to do it. (I'm not that person) xD

It might also be possible to find pre-written code online that is available to the public for free use. Keep in mind that we should always properly credit our sources! o3o

To go with character creation also puts more work on the pixel artist(s).

If you have any ideas, feel free to share them! We'll do our best to incorporate them into the game. Since we don't have a solid plot yet, now is the time for brainstorming :V

@Flamango: You don't have to apologize! Those are all great ideas. We're open to other people's ideas, and those will help us form a better plot.

It would be nice if people who drew their game stuff tagged it under #segiquest for the sake of easily finding it later.

We could have mini games like potion making, training your familiar, and working at the cafe. Then your character could buy and sell stuff at all the various shops. The book store would be valuable because, for a price, you could upgrade your spells by buying spell books. Familiars could have special powers, but their special power can only be used every so often. If you want to use its power more, you have to feed it to get it's engery back. Food can be dropped or bought at the familiar store.

Another idea:

Would it be funny if a few of the monters were school based? Like a man-eating book that's labled "Overdue Homework" or a humanized hall pass, and when you die in the game you respawn in Detention.

It would be interesting! Props to creative thinking :D

Would you prefer that I post colored monsters or is just the line art okay? I figured with the line art, it could be colored differently depending on what its type is. Or do monsters not have types?

Either way is fine, and I'm unsure as to whether there will be different types (of the same monster?) or not.

i can draw some talk sprites and maybe help w character dialogue?? also, if there are gonna be multiple characters to choose from, are we including any sort of love interests (like FE) or no?? also, I may be able to help with coding because i have this rad friend and she knows that stuff XD any art i can do i'd love to!! I also like the idea of multiple charas to start with, and maybe our ocs as the npcs (/.o.)/ if theres anything i can help with at all i have kik and skype (clevertheif)

I like @Cleverarts idea of love interests. But could we possibly throw in dates too? Like going to a cafe for coffee or walking through the woods w/ your lover that sorta of stuff. But of course every area affects everyone differently and maybe the idea of giving them gifts and such to raise their "chemistry" w/ you. The higher the chemistry the more they'll protect you or higher critcal hits are.
I could also help w/ art if needed but I only have my 3ds. :/

i wanted to go solo this time since my real-life friends kinda suck and they dont really have anything in common with me nor do they respect that i dont care about anime at all and i dont want to hear it

i wanted to go to the mall, we have a really nice one in florida, and i wanted to go skating or bowling on sunday before i had to go to school

my mom said that was totally ok and we'd do that, and then she decides "Nope forget you were doing what I want to do. enjoy your birthday child-who-i-dont-ever-listen-to"

someone grab me a plane ticket to britain so i can hang out with my best online friend for the rest of my existence and get away from this awful family who doesnt really care about anything i say please

hopefully my birthday itself isnt a trainwreck. yeah im probably not getting the presents i wanted but hey im homeschooled. online. i get to talk to my best friend while im working cause his college is still out until september and he's like my big brother

Oh and maybe events like dances and festivals. :D

and as an added bonus, he's not a pe'do (he's not even single plus he's gay so he wouldnt target anyone anyways), nor does he lie about his age on the interet and he's extremely honest and trustworthy and i've voice chatted with him and seen him and he actually wasnt lying about anything so i wouldnt mind meeting him irl and tbh i'd probably beg his mom to adopt me because she seems really cool

then i met my best friend and he's so selfLESS that i started to value him more than myself and i picked up his attitude a little

one time i went through a really bad burst of sadness and i went to him AFTER his mom told him he needed to go to bed and he risked getting in trouble to stay up and comfort me. he never got caught but if he did he woulda told her he valued my happiness over sleep

Of course, that only works for 3DS artists or story peoples, and not so much for other stuff like music.. eh.

Also, if you used an outside resource as a base for sprites, any tilesets, etc. please don't forget to CREDIT THE ORIGINAL SOURCE/OWNERS. :)

this is really REALLY exciting ! q V q ) wowie what a huge project this will be ! i just hope that there won't be too many bugs or glitches/viruses that happen < :'(

Well, I think it'd be a good idea to have a few options for playable characters, one of course being Kyara. But if that's too difficult to program.. yeah.

As for the plot.. I think (maybe optional?) side quests introducing lots of different students is a good plan. Overall plot, though, is more tricky. I guess it also depends on the goal or theme of the game. Like, if it should be heavy or light, if something is to be learned from it, etc.. so I think the first thing would be to decide the mood of the game, then go from there.

If it's lighter, the plot could probably be more school- or drama-based. Heavier, it would probably involve some greater evil/antagonist. Of course it could be different, but.. yknow.

But anyway, one thing I'm thinking is, maybe something bad could be affecting the student body as a whole, and the player has to figure out the cause. (Disease? Magical abilities randomly disappearing? Familiars sick? w/e)
