Teenager Peter Parker is a genius in a high school where he had been constantly bullied. But after being bitten by a radioactive spider, he gained powers of enhanced strength, the ability to climb walls, and a "spider sense". He also invented web-shooters and took on the name of Spider-Man. Soon after gaining these powers his beloved Uncle Ben was killed by a random thug on the street. This event is what started Spider-Man on his path to becoming a true, relatable hero.
