Concord's backstory, part A: The Pie community is very strict and full of violent punishment & an obsession with 'purity'. 'purity' to them is being hairless and obeying without question. Concord is frustrated living in world where he had to grow up further than he really wanted to. He asks blueberry would happen if he were to rebel. Blueberry says that "would never happen here". Concord goes into a dumpster and finds some nearly empty cream cans and puts it on as hair. He comes back to the Pie Community, uncaring of the consequences. The Pie Community reacts with utter disgust, wondering why he would do this to himself. The Pie Leaders hear about this, and tell Blueberry to get rid of him or they will spread rumors about him to the whole town that he's just as 'tainted' as him. Blueberry goes to Concord's house and tells him they're going to go 'somewhere'.

Concord's backstory, Part B: This 'somewhere' is called SilverWare Forest. Blueberry kicks Concord out of his sugar crystal car, to which they have this conversation:

Concord: 'Why are letting me out here? For what?'
Blueberry: 'Look, if I don't do this, everybody's gonna hate me just as much they hate you.'
Concord: 'So what you're telling me is, you're just going to abandon me here just because you can't take the heat? Our friendship is done! '
Blueberry:'Good. I don't want to be friends with an idiot who can't obey simple rules!'
Concord:'I'd rather be a rule breaker than a soggy crusted coward who doesn't have my back! I'm so done with you!'
Blueberry speeds off Sugar Crystal Car.

Concord, distraught and frustrated by Blueberry's betrayal, wonders what he'll be able to do there and stomps around the Silverware forest.

Peanut's backstory: The Ice Cream Community is very kind, helpful, giving, and safe. Peanut feels so safe there, she's ignorant of danger existing. Peanut wanders around the outskirts of the Parlor, hearing about Team Ice Cream but unsure if she really wants to go. She starts heading into Silverware Forest all alone, wanting to explore it. Peanut goes through the Silverware Forest and starts seeing a triangular silhouette in the distance and hearing loud stomping noises, feeling the ground move a little from the intensity. She's scared of what it could be, and runs while lost in the forest. She hears a deep voice speaking, but in her fear while running she can't understand.Some silverware trees block her way. She hears the deep voice clearly say 'Stop! Wait!' now and she looks at this young man near her. Her fear becomes curiousity looking at this person whose very different from her ice cream friends. The young man asks her what she's doing here alone. Peanut explains her reasoning.

The young man is amazed that Peanut could even feel safe in this forest. He apologizes for possibly scaring her. Then he introduces himself as Concord Grape Pie. Peanut introduces herself, and asks Concord how he got here. At first, he says he is too irritated to truly talk about it. Peanut asks if he did something wrong, he says "No, I did what felt to be the first right thing I've done in a long while. Then my ex-friend decided to show their true colors to me, and abandon me here. Not much else to say than that. " Peanut asks if his ex-friend is a pie slice like him. To which Concord says yes, but he hates to even be remotely related to the other Pie People.

Peanut says she'd never be as mean to him as his ex-friend was, and asks if they can be friends. Concord says he really doesn't want to make friends too quickly, and says "
As much you seem like a really sweet girl, not right now, maybe later." Peanut is a bit upset, and goes back to the Parlor, wondering how she can become friends with him.She gets an idea. The next day, She goes back to the SilverWare forest, this time with a book in hand she found in a library about the ice cream history of The Sugar War, and calls Concord in the forest to come over to her. They start talking about the book's history inside it, and Concord actually finds this story to be really interesting. Peanut asks him again if they can be friends. Concord says he wants to befriend her but feels that it is way too soon for him, and tells her "if you're willing to stay with me even when times are really tough, maybe I'll consider us friends.Deal, PB?"

"Really!? Of course I promise to stay by your side, Concord! Now we're friends!" Peanut runs up to & hugs Concord. Concord is taken aback by this, mostly because of how sudden it was, and then hugs her back.
