Orion is, in a sense [and a biological way], Raevin's grandfather.

He's the leader of the Strikkats, which are basically executioners of Dessika. Those black parts are kinda like horns, and are deformations only on the Grandparent Trolls.

As this suggests, he abused Raevin until she was 6 sweeps, when she finally kicked him in the face for it.
They have a near kismessistic relationship, as she hates him and he wants her :p
