Here's Willow when she was a kid! * v * Gale, the boy behind her, is the friend that died trying to guard her from an attack.
Willow's parents are bleh. They abandonded her on the streets of Plegia when she was 3-4yrs. She eventually met Gale(7-8yrs), a run-away, and they teamed up in order to ensure their survival. They mainly used their wits to survive but they still stole shiet.
At some point, Gale stole some tomes. And you can guess what events followed in suit from there.

Yknow, I wish there were actually characters like Willow in Awakening, because they give you no reason to sympathize with Plegia.
Seems like everyone there was either just a crazy cultist or a straight-up sadist.
So I think it's good to highlight the poverty and hardship that probably comes from a place like that.

Man, compared to Willow any Plegian character in the actual game is horribly flat! XD I know we have more ways to show backstory but they have nothing this deep or interesting to make us think Plegia has good people. I agree with howling, the game needed someone like Willow to make it less of a black and white "good vs evil" and more like an actual war where not everyone wants to fight for their land. Also, Gale would've been so awesome to have as a unit (PARALOGUE LEVEL) Its a shame he had to die T^T
