And yeah... there's normally a 'u' at the end (if you want to use proper Japanese), so it would be 'arigatou'. Gozaimasu is a formal, polite phrase. The language can get pretty complex, since there are many formalities that must be used in certain situations (in fact, most natives don't fully understand it themselves. Crazy, huh?).

I've only mastered 2 out of the three Japanese scripts, which are the two types of kana, katakana (This is meant to form words in another language, such as English, or sound effects. Ex: katakana: rampu ((there isn't an 'L' in the Japanese alphabet)), English: lamp), and hiragana (while katakana seems simple enough, hiragana can be used to form words you don't know in kanji, the third form of script. It's a bit more complex than katakana. I can't really apply a good example here since I don't have a Japanese 3DS, but the word will sound the same in both hiragana and kanji). Then there's... KANJI. The most complex of them all. I only am familiar with a limited amount, mostly because of how DIFFICULT it can get. Meh, but I've just got to take it slowly, I guess. cx Practice makes perfect. Anyway, and those were just some of the basics. XD

^That was such a lengthy comment. XD My apologies. I'm such a nerd! Then again, that was a CONDENSED explanation of the three Japanese scripts, without explaining major rules in between. Oh, and another language I want to be fluent in is Latin. It's pretty important, given that it was the language from which many others originated, and since I want to become a marine biologist, it'll be useful, since the scientific names of species are either derived from Greek or Latin, or both. It's a shame not many people want to learn it anymore. xc
