Hakai, the Phantom, is not necessarily a seperate person, just his dark, corrupted thoughts manifested into a new form.

So you're wondering why he's so different...

Ok well, I had to explain who and what Hakai was first, but now I can explain more.

Like I said, Hakai takes over Arashi, turning his hair white and eyes golden, making a "Dark Arashi," because it's still Arashi, just...more evil than normal. He refuses to be called Arashi in this state, and prefers to be called Hakai.

So, later in my story, (I'm not spoiling details,) but I'll tell you that Arashi finds a way to merge his soul together with Hakai's.

Having a Phantom makes a person have two souls. For example, Hakai is the evil half, more demon than human, and Arashi is the good half, more human than demon. Though he still appears demon like in this painting, he's more good than evil.

After he merges, his hair turns mostly white, with a single black streak on his right side, and his right eye turns golden...

This is why he covers it with an eyepatch.

Sure, a weird looking eye like that would be strange to normal folk, but it's mostly because Arashi is afraid to look upon it... A reminder of his darkness.

His left eye is normally blue, but when he's in a more demonic state, it looks like this, red with a black sclera. (Almost like a ghoul, I guess.)

I forgot to mention that his lightning bolt mark-thingy, turns black.

Arashi also usually covers his right arm with his sleeve, (they don't look rolled up, but they are supposed to be,) because he gets his arm severed off (by someone I'm not telling you about,) and then reconnected with demonic power (he covers it because of the strange markings, that are a form of demonic runes.)

He also usually keeps his hood up, to cover his horns, because the spell to mask them, doesn't work with him, because he is not fully demon.

He can become fully demon, but this requires him to drink a cup's worth of his own blood, (loll)

Great Arceus that last bit tho

Because he'll be consuming some of the human blood that still runs through his veins.

Yeah.

He also cannot control his demon form until after he gets his arm reconnected...

so until then, if he goes into that form, it'll run rampant, and like, ki,ll people, (omg hes naruto.)

also, i consider him more demon than human, because his mother was a demon, who actually carried him inside of her, and his father was a human...(technically the mother does more, so that determines it, imo.)

Ye, and he gets his left horn broken later, (no spoilz,) and his brother also makes his mask for him, and he gets more sword training (he has dual blades, that I didn't draw because I forgot, tbh.)

yeah, and he's a shinobi. (The Last Shinobi.) These shinobi used to work alongside the demon hunters, but then they all died, 'cept for him, so...

Arashi's dad was a shinobi and his mother was a demon.
His sister's soul was stolen unfairly, as a price for his mother betraying Satan,

So Arashi just wants to get it back, (his sister is fully human, with a teeny tiny bit of demon in her, because reasons.)

Arashi is adopted by two demon hunters, (Kage's parents,) and Kage becomes an older foster brother to Arashi, (they get away with it because of dark hair and blue eyes, though Kage's are lighter.)
Arashi is a vampire-type demon, blaah, blahh, their eyes have strange rings around their pupils, his sister had this too, but her eyes were just blue, unlike Arashi whose eyes turn red.
(His right one remains yellow, but the sclera goes black.)

That is one massive story you got there, but I can't wauit to see what happens and the details that you were hinting at (Basically, I'm excited to read it)! I really like this picture as well, the flower really goes well with it, and the colors contrast eachother really well!
