I had someone else request this to me, but I still suck at shading.
I guess I'll make it after I finish my painting I'm working on. hmm
I'll think about it, since my hands are full for quite a while.
Also, thanks for following me!

I would start by saying you want contrast. Try having black in your painting somewhere, and white somewhere else, and challenge yourself to blend between both.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
In this painting, your character is red, your background is purple, and your words are blue. To shade, first you need to decide where the light is coming from. Just for fun let's say it's the words that are glowing, bright bluish white light. Shading with black and white is easy, but doesn't look very good; it's good to use different colors, like the color of the room for shadows, and the color of the light for the highlights. If she was red I would color her body in MEDIUM-DARK-RED, then give dark purple shadows to the parts of her away from the words, and light blue highlights to the parts of her facing the words. I like to use the "airbrush" on a layer above, and big enough to color outside the lines. Then I'll take the eraser to cut it to fit IN the lines, and then drop that layer down onto the shaded object.

#ColorTheory has been the most helpful tutorial for me, but if you just type #tutorial there are tons of quick shading tutorials you could check out. HINT; arrange them by likes to see the most liked ones on top. lots of good ones up there. Especially basic color theory, and the picture of the bald purple girl.
