I don't think you're 'bad', really. I think you just need more knowledge on how to work with colors and shadows. I think you need look up references for stuff you'd like to draw and then figure how to draw it. I think you need to study color theory and how shadows work. Search in DeviantArt: Trotroy: HOW TO MAKE YOUR ART LOOK NICE and Nsio Explains Tutorials. These tutorials help you understand how to make your art visually appealing, I'd start with TroTroy's tutorials for making your art look great in general, and then go for the more in-depth Nsio Explains for most things anime-related.
