probably bc people who say that are just trying to get things off their chests and dont want anyone leaving pointless comments (or completley ignoring the persons problem who posted it and make it abt themselves)

they don't want people to comment because they know people are going to try to "help" and they don't want strangers' help, or they don't want to explain it to people or for people to worry about them, or because someone could accidentally make them feel worse, or because someone could misunderstand the situation and make a huge deal about it, or so people don't make it about themselves.
The point is so they can express their feelings without causing a commotion.

Well when they say that and post a vent it's usually to get something off their chest or because reading people's comments can sometimes make them feel worse depending on who it's from or what it says

I make vents to get everything out so I don't hurt myself because it gets piled up inside after awhile :'0

sometimes seeing "I hope you feel better" and ":'(((" a bunch of times doesn't do very much. for some people, just a good period of silence helps. they just want to let things out.

A better question is: What's the point of "venting" if NO ONE CARES?

Ikr like if ppl dont want comments then they shouldnt post the vent it's pointless
