I'm all for equal rights for everyone but I'm pretty annoyed with all the ships and gemsonas.
sonas related to a show/game/book really annoy me. even if they're actually good and have a solid design and background in general.
Steven Universe is my top favorite show next to Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, and Adventure Time.

We have to accept that there will be fans like that for every show/game/book. It's the internet. :Y

And for the fandom... almost every fandoms annoy me... I'm a big fan of things (like Sonic, Zelda, Touhou, ...) but I don't concider myself as a part of any fandom because they annoy me...
For Steven Universe, I don't watch the show but it kinda annoy me to see all those fanarts everywhere... just like splatoon or fnaf (I don't really mind fnaf since I actually like the fanarts)

People who usually don't get much positive representation get really excited when they do.

its mainly bc people get hella excited over g.ay representation in kids shows, due to most shows blocking out lgbtq stuff. for example the (albeit not very good) show Good Luck Charlie was cancelled due toman episode with les.bians that caused the cast to recieve death threats. basically its just exciting for the lgbtq community because theyre under represented

@oyomary: that is true..and its rly good for them to be excited. :0 i guess sometimes it really gets to me that it seems like they think its only purpose of the show and the story of Steven or any other character doesnt rly matter to them...at least 90 percent of the fanart is gems too.
not saying all of SU fandom is like this but it seems like thats the majority.
