Yep, this is Alex's father, Nathan. He's a redstone master, and sometimes messes with small explosives. He tries to make custom fireworks, and although his early experiments ended in this, and sometimes his beard getting singed off, he soon mastered it and was able to make amazing fireworks.
He often volunteers in his town's mine, and in exchange he gets some of the mine's products. This includes redstone. He trades for his other supplies.
