When you paint fire try using a reference of fire, and fire naturally doesn't have all those colors unless you set fire to methane gas and is usually red- bright yellow.
Also fire isn't solid color it should be somewhat see-through in the middle section of it. Also try using multiple brushes to color it, not just the fog or soft brush. I like using both the solid and soft brush but I use the soft brush for lighting mostly. Also just try to use the eraser to create the illusion of holes in the flame and a gas-like appearance. Same with flame in the background and try using the solid brush more to add more shape. It gives for a nice impressive shape when this is done.
