.:This is mah theory, ya know everyone says that Red may have comitted suicide in the forest below? well nah besides it's Pokemon! Game freak won't ever put that dark in a kids game and think about it from all the coding it's incredibly difficult to have another sprite either than the player to use fly when Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Gold was made. So most likely I think Red wanted to learn more about the Pokemon world from that battle so he took off on his Pidgeot ^^:.

I dunno...
In X and Y there was that depressed old man who leaves whatever low level pokemon you gave him as a Pokeball in his house, and spawns an escape rope near the gym. Those spawns only trigger when you beat the Elite 4 and Diantha after giving him a Level 5 or lower Pokemon.
Personally, unless there's truth to an NPC disappearing in these games explained through programmed events, I ignore theories like Red kicking the bucket.
